Photo courtesy of David Pileski   Updated 5/11/2021 7:00 PM After being sworn in as Roselle s new mayor on Monday, David Pileski said he wants to guide the village through the COVID-19 pandemic and build for the community s future. The 29-year-old former village trustee won a three-way race to replace departing Mayor Andy Maglio, who decided not to seek reelection after one term. Maglio also served on the planning and zoning commission for 24 years and as a trustee for eight years.

Rose Festival and other special events may return to Roselle   Updated 3/16/2021 6:41 PM Roselle is considering the possibility of bringing back the Rose Festival and other special events this summer and fall. Many events in the village were canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But village officials met recently to discuss plans to host the Rose Festival, Rose Parade, the July 3 Party in the Park, and the Taste of Roselle.   If approved, the Rose Festival and Rose Parade would be held the first week of June. Village officials have until the end of the month to decide when and if they want to host events.

Courtesy of village of Roselle   tarline@dailyherald.com With the Metro 19 apartment complex ready to start development in the spring, some Roselle residents have voiced concern about traffic and about demand for housing centered around train commutes.   The $80 million apartment complex was approved Jan. 11 and is set to open in 2022. Trustees say it fits into the village s comprehensive plan for enhancing the central part of town and increasing demand for restaurants, shops and other retailers in the village.
