Police raid at a massage parlour at Taman Melaka Raya.
MELAKA: A sob story did not deter police here from handing out a RM10,000 compound notice to the owner of a massage parlour that had been operating illegally during the movement control order (MCO).
Melaka CID Chief Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said the 48-year-old man had tried to plead his case by saying that he had to keep his Taman Melaka Raya business open to pay the monthly rental, utility bills and staff salaries.
The owner had pleaded his case when police raided the premises on the first floor of a shophouse at 3.10pm on Thursday (June 3).
MELAKA: Melaka police sent a clear signal to the recalcitrant operators of six illegal online gambling outlets by cutting off their electricity supply and going after property owners who lease their premises for such activities.
State CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Sukri Kaman said the six operators had boldly resumed their illegal activity despite the action taken against them earlier. They were charged in court but they persisted in their activities without fear. These operators disregarded the law, but we will not let them go free, he said on Thursday (Feb 25).
ACP Mohd Sukri said the operation against the gambling dens took place from 10am to 4pm on Thursday and involved officials from Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
