With ban on international flights till Feb 28, India likely to sign more air bubbles
The Indian government has extended the ban on international commercial flights till February 28, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a circular on Thursday. The ban on scheduled overseas flights was to end on January 31 after a ten-month gap, reports Rhik Kundu in Mint.
Dedicated cargo flights and those specifically allowed by the civil aviation regulator such as flights under the bilateral air bubble pacts with select countries will continue to operate, the civil aviation watchdog said. A bilateral air bubble is a mechanism to resume flights between India and other nations with preconditions during the pandemic.

New Delhi, Jan 28 : India on Thursday extended the suspension of scheduled commercial international flight operations to and from the country till February 28. This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), an official statement said. However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case to case basis.
At present, India has entered into Air Bubble agreements with several countries.

Envoy urges Indians in UAE to get vaccinated

Ambassador of India to the UAE Pavan Kapoor has urged all Indians to come forward and get vaccinated against the COVID-19.
Kapoor made the call after unfurling the Indian national flag on the occasion of Republic Day of India which was celebrated across the UAE on Tuesday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration remained a low-key affair, which was attended by the mission’s staff. The proceedings were telecast live on various social media platforms.
During his virtual address to the Indian community, Kapoor said, “We are pleased that the vaccine rollout has started both here and in India and I would encourage all of you to get vaccinated as per the guidelines here so that we can all assist in this process to try and take away the scourge of the pandemic as soon as possible.
