Dubai issues Ramadan guidelines for mosques 08 Apr 2021 Imran Mojib, Special Correspondent In line with the directives of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) has announced a set of mandatory precautionary guidelines for worshipers attending prayers in mosques during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The Department said that Isha and Taraweeh prayers can be performed in mosques, provided worshippers continue to observe precautionary guidelines, including wearing of face masks and maintaining physical distancing. Isha prayers will be held five minutes after the azan. The maximum duration of both prayers in mosques has been capped at 30 minutes.

UNHCR seeks fund to help refugees’ higher education 11 Mar 2021 Imran Mojib, Special Correspondent UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, launched its “Aiming Higher” fundraising campaign in the UAE, on International Women’s Day with a mission to support vulnerable refugees across the globe with their higher education. The campaign was launched in collaboration with some of the most influential women in the UAE including UNHCR high profile supporter Karen Wazen to raise funds for the higher education of 70 refugees. The fundraising digital portal will be receiving funds from till April 8, uniting supporters in a collective effort to invest in refugee higher education.

Painting embodies spirit of universal brotherhood

‘The Journey of Humanity’, the painting by British artist Sacha Jafri which created the Guinness World Record for the largest art canvas in the world, embodies Dubai’s spirit of seeking to bring the world together for the good of humanity, said Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
