(WTVF) — A family of six is currently displaced after a house fire in the Murfreesboro area Friday night. Rutherford County Fire Rescue, along with crews from the Sheriff s Office, Emergency Medical Services and Almaville Fire Department, responded to Valley Bend Road around 10:30 p.m. They were able to extinguish the fire, though extensive damage had already been done. Assistant Fire Marshal Joshua Sanders says the fire appears to be accidental. Four of the six residents were home when the fire started. They sustained minor injuries, including some smoke inhalation and singed hair.

Captain Matthew Lupo said crews arrived to a discover a kitchen fire that had spread to the ceiling. “All of the residents were out of the home,” said Lupo. “Fire was rising out of the roof when we arrived.” Both departments made entry and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, while other crew members attacked the fire from outside the structure.

First units on the scene reported heavy smoke and flames already coming through the front door. 54-year old Lloyd Chisholm was killed and three others were taken to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.   Chief Larry Farley told NewsRadio WGNS . . . Rutherford County Fire Rescue Captain Matthew Lupo said, The structure was already from a quarter to 50 percent involved when we arrived. Most of the fire seemed to be on the back side of the structure.”
