Major West Asian nations have recently embarked on new diplomatic engagements with erstwhile rivals that could in time overturn existing regional alignments and possibly end ongoing conflicts that have wreaked havoc in several states.
The most dramatic interactions have been between senior Saudi and Iranian officials. After their meeting on April 9, the first since diplomatic ties were broken in January 2016, there have been other interactions, with technical committees set up to look at specific topics.

The documentary, titled All the Prime Minister s Men , claimed that the Bangladesh Army chief General Aziz Ahmed had been aiding his brothers, who had been convicted of murder.

New Delhi: The Bangladesh high court on Wednesday directed the national telecom regulator to remove all online uploads of an Al Jazeera investigation which claimed that the Bangladesh Army chief General Aziz Ahmed had been aiding his brothers, who had been convicted of murder.

LAHORE: In what could be branded as an impressive firepower display over the waves of the North Arabian Sea on January 12 this year, the Pakistan Navy Fleet comprising its submarines, had also successfully engaged its intended targets with anti-ship missiles and torpedoes.
And then recently, the naval warfare branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces, kicked off a five-day multinational exercise in the Arabian Sea, with 45 nations participating in the event that has surely caught the eyes of all the international military powers to reckon with.
Renowned American news agency, the “Associated Press” writes: “Pakistan has been hosting the exercise since 2007 but has never invited neighboring India, and bitter relations remain after three wars fought between the two since independence from British rule in 1947. Writ petition filed seeking HC order to ban broadcast of Al Jazeera in Bangladesh Star Digital Report Star Digital Report
A Supreme Court lawyer today filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking its directive on the government to ban broadcast of Al Jazeera Television in Bangladesh.
The Qatar-based news channel broadcasted the documentary titled All the Prime Minister s Men on February 2.
Lawyer Md Anamul Kabir Emon submitted the petition as a public interest litigation to the HC today also requesting the HC to order the government to remove the contents of the report aired by Al Jazeera from all social media including Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
