OPELOUSAS, La. Students from Port Barre Middle School and North Central High School will be participating in the Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) Program. This program is a comprehensive childhood-to-career program to inspire, educate, and train children and young adults from underserved schools and communities to pursue careers in computer science. Amazon Future Engineer offers qualified middle schools access to exploratory computer science classes through Project STEM.
On Thursday, it was announced that Arnaudville Middle School had been selected to participate in the AFE program. Click here to read the story.
Schools selected for this program will receive these courses, dedicated implementation and ongoing support at no cost, according to a spokesperson for the St. Landry Parish School Board.

Scared and confused were some of the words students at Arnaudville Middle School used when describing how they felt about the events that took place on Wednesday at our nation s Capitol.
One seventh grader said, It made me feel scared because.what if they do that over here.
Another said, I don t get why they did it, but most people did it because they felt it was the right way to make themselves known to the public and get their point through.
