DE bill could expand the medical cannabis law and create easier access to healthcare

47abc May 7, 2021 DELAWARE- Expanding the medical cannabis law, that’s what Senate Bill 60 aims to do in Delaware’s General Assembly. “It simply enables the ability for physician assistants and nurse practitioners to prescribe medicinal cannabis to prescribe patients here in the state of Delaware,” Senator Ernie Lopez, sponsor of the bill, said. And that’s exactly what it would do if this bill passes. “What we heard throughout COVID is that we need to be looking at legislation that expands the opportunity for our constituents to have better access to health care and that’s exactly what Senate Bill 60 does,” Sen. Lopez said.

CIB officials say the macadam at the end of Dagsworthy Avenue has disappeared into the bay at a rate of about two feet a year. The grant would fund the creation of plans to stabilize roughly 800 feet of severely eroded shoreline along Rehoboth Bay from Sunset Park on Dagsworthy Avenue, around Ivy and Northbeach, and including the marsh in front of the Dewey Beach Lions Club on McKinley Avenue. Senate Bill 15, which would raise Delaware s minimum wage to $15 an hour for all workers, moved through committee April 21 and now awaits action in the House. “Maintaining the status quo on Delaware’s minimum wage, which is one of the lowest in the mid-Atlantic region, isn’t just unfair to hourly workers, it’s also a missed opportunity to strengthen our economy,” said an Amazon spokesman when asked about why Amazon had taken out full-page advertising in favor of SB 15.

Officials cut the ribbon on new Wagamons boat ramp

State and town officials cut the ribbon April 20 on the new $316,000 boat ramp and dock at Wagamons Pond in Milton. The project, spearheaded by Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, was paid for using 75 percent federal funds and 25 percent revenue from state fishing licenses. Besides the ramp and dock, DNREC contractors also repaved the parking lot.
