Officials with the Amarillo Fire Department released information regarding a structure fire which occurred early Monday in the 1200 block of South Buchanan.
According to a news release, units with the department were dispatched to a structure fire in the 1200 block of South Buchanan at 3:06 a.m. Monday. When the units arrived, the department found a single-story home with heavy smoke and fire venting through the roof.
According to the release, crews set up a defensive attack and protected the surrounding homes. By 5:57 a.m., the fire was under control. There were no injuries in the incident, with the home appearing to be abandoned, officials stated.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A man will spend 10 years in prison for using gasoline to light a house on fire in 2018.
The 181st District Judge sentenced Joe Clark to 10 years for the charges stemming from an arson investigation in 2018.
The case began with a joint operation by the Amarillo Police Department and Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office into a house fire on Fleetwood Drive.

On Thursday, 181st District Judge Titiana Frausto sentenced Joe Clark to 10 years in prison following a jury s returned verdict of guilty for the offense of arson of a habitation.
According to a news release from the Randall County Criminal District Attorney s office, the case began with a joint investigation in July 2018 by the Amarillo Police Department and Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office into a house fire in the 3300 block of Fleetwood in southwest Amarillo. Clark was arrested shortly after the fire when his fingerprints were found on a container used to pour gasoline in the house to start the fire.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Fire crews extinguished a blaze at a home near NW 10th Avenue and Lamar Street last night.
Firefighters responded to the home at 10:22 p.m. and found it engulfed in flames.
Crews searched for victims but found no one inside the home.
Officials said the residents had evacuated prior to the arrival of the firefighters.
No injuries were reported and the Red Cross was notified for the home’s occupants.
The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

Officials with the Amarillo Fire Department released information on two fires which occurred Monday morning.
In the first incident, firefighters responded to a structure fire at 2106 S. Grand, the old Pizza Hut building, at 8:23 a.m. Monday, according to a news release. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming out of the building. Once officials entered the building, they found that the fire was out on arrival, the release said.
While no individuals were in the building, it was apparent, per the release, that multiple vagrants have been living inside the structure and starting warming fires inside the dining room area. Most of the damage was done by smoke.
