Officials with the Amarillo Fire Department released information on two fires which occurred Monday morning.
In the first incident, firefighters responded to a structure fire at 2106 S. Grand, the old Pizza Hut building, at 8:23 a.m. Monday, according to a news release. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming out of the building. Once officials entered the building, they found that the fire was "out on arrival," the release said.
While no individuals were in the building, it was apparent, per the release, that "multiple vagrants have been living inside the structure and starting warming fires inside the dining room area. Most of the damage was done by smoke."
