NOIDA: The Union government has decided to set up the Indian Institute of Heritage in the city, an umbrella body under which all heritage institutes in the country will operate.
The information was given by the Union culture and tourism minister G Kishan Reddy in response to an unstarred question in the Parliament on Monday.
Officials in Gautam Buddh Nagar administration and Noida Authority, however, said they have no information about the project as of now.
The minister said the Indian Institute of Heritage will be a world-class university and will focus on conservation of the country’s rich tangible heritage and research, development and dissemination of knowledge. He added that “excellence in the education of its students and activities associated with heritage will contribute to the cultural, scientific and economic life of India”.
Greater Noida: Consultant RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) Limited that has been hired by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority to prepare a comprehensive traffic plan for the city has started its survey. The study has begun on the 130m-wide road between two blocks in Knowledge Park 5.
About 20 places have been identified as ‘choke points’ and RITES has prepared a preliminary report on five such areas.
The GNIDA has started examining it, officials said. These points are Pari Chowk, Surajpur entry/exit point, Tilapta Chowk, Honda Chowk and Kisan Chowk.
