Where were the residents and other stakeholders? I attended two meetings this week on Redistricting, and since we are unable to see the participants via ZOOM (their names or part of their phone numbers show up on the top of the ZOOM screen from my view) only when they speak, it is impossible for the public to know who was logged on by computer or by phone. This article is not meant to be written in the manner of a professional reporter, but rather from a participant’s point of view.In the first meeting that I attended with the Los Angeles County Citizens Redistricting Commission on Monday night, I believe I only heard about three public speakers which includes my comments.

COMMENTARY-In the weeks leading up to Independence Day, independence has been much on my mind.
I am a Budget Advocate, but today I am writing not as a Budget Advocate but as a resident of the City of Los Angeles about an independent organization that works on behalf of us all.
The Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates have represented the interests of Angelenos for the past 18 years, researching the City’s budget and fiscal choices of those who are supposed to serve us in City Hall. These choices directly impact the services the City provides our neighborhoods.
Govt urged to hold local govt elections

LAHORE: Civil society organisations and people from a cross section of society have demanded the Punjab government immediately announce schedule for local government elections, saying it should be announced 120 days before the elections.
The conference held here on Tuesday by Baidarie, Sialkot, in collaboration with South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP), Sangat Development Foundation (SDF) and Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE) stressed that the Punjab government should immediately approve and implement the law of local government as per the decision of the Supreme Court. Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed, Minister Housing & Planning, and PTI MPA Sadia Sohail were the chief guests at the conference.

A”. The second area specific meeting was on June 23, 2021; it is shown here as location “
D.”
A meeting is scheduled June 28, 2021, for area “I” which is shown in purple on the above map. There are regular meetings dates that are not on this map. To date, I believe that these meetings have been via ZOOM. It is my understanding that later in the summer, the Redistricting Committee will hold hearings in these communities.
