Indonesian envoy briefs students on scholarships July 15, 2021 LAHORE : Indonesian Ambassador in Pakistan Adam Mulawarman Tugio on Wednesday visited Government College University Lahore and briefed the students about different scholarships available in Indonesia for Pakistani students. GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi and senior faculty members welcomed the development for the benefit of the students and faculty of GCU. Adam Mulawarman Tugio said different Indonesian universities had been considered among the 200 best universities of the world. “Pakistan and Indonesia are brotherly Islamic countries and there are vast opportunities for cooperation between the two in various fields,” he added. He pledged to act as a bridge between GCU and different reputed universities of Indonesia for academic and research collaboration.

Consultation on achieving SDGs July 1, 2021 Lahore: A policy consultation on achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fulfilling commitments under the Convention on Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was held here on Wednesday. The consultation was organised by Shirkat Gah, Women’s Resource Centre (SG) and the Democratic Commission for Human Development. It provided a platform for engagement between elected and executive members of government and civil society to engage with Pakistan’s progress on achieving SDGs targets particularly SDG 5-Gender Equality and SDG 10-Reduced Inequalities and fulfilling commitments under CEDAW. Govt urged to hold local govt elections June 30, 2021 LAHORE: Civil society organisations and people from a cross section of society have demanded the Punjab government immediately announce schedule for local government elections, saying it should be announced 120 days before the elections. The conference held here on Tuesday by Baidarie, Sialkot, in collaboration with South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP), Sangat Development Foundation (SDF) and Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE) stressed that the Punjab government should immediately approve and implement the law of local government as per the decision of the Supreme Court. Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed, Minister Housing & Planning, and PTI MPA Sadia Sohail were the chief guests at the conference.

The CM pressed computer button for balloting of 13,277 applications for the allotments of 2,000 apartments. STOCK IMAGE LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to acquire services of retired army officials to curb the menace of land grabbing and protection of precious assets. This decision was made in the second session of LDA governing body meeting for 2021, held under the chair of LDA Vice Chairman S M Imran on Thursday. The meeting decided to restructure the Enforcement Directorate for better implementation of the construction bylaws and protection of government lands. It approved the appointment of retired army officials as director and zonal inspectors for this purpose.
