Who will be the new GM?  The General Manager is appointed by the Mayor and must then be confirmed by the LA City Council.  Mayor Garcetti has named Dana Brown, who served as Assistant General Manager of the Animal Services Department from 2015 to 2018, as Interim General Manager until a permanent GM is selected.  A suggestion to Mayor Garcetti and the City Council: Animal Rescue Organizations, Animal Services Volunteers, Animal Activists, and Neighborhood Councils should have input into the choice of the permanent General Manager.

The California Economy vs Sacramento

NEW GEOGRAPHY Over the past few years California’s plight has taken on mythic proportions a cautionary tale of progressive woe among conservatives, but a beacon for a future enlightened capitalism among its woke supporters. The current battle over the potential recall of the preening governor, Gavin Newsom, likely will enhance these extreme interpretations on both sides, but likely will not be sufficient to make the changes needed to restore the state’s legendary promise. Outside observers, and many in the deep-blue California media, have trouble comprehending the perplexing dilemma posed by the state. In recent years California’s relative economic strength in many fields, notably manufacturing, has ebbed, and it suffers the nation’s highest cost-of-living-adjusted poverty rate. The pandemic has driven unemployment to the highest level in the nation outside Hawaii, devastating the state’s vast pool of generally low-wage hospitality and service jobs. Future job prospects

Digital billboard ordinance on a dangerous path back to PLUM : Larchmont Chronicle

DIGITAL SIGNS on bus shelters are being promoted by billboard lobbyists. Revisions to billboard and other signage law in Los Angeles are on a dangerous path if you ask Patrick Frank, president of Scenic Los Angeles. His group recently declared victory after the City Planning Commission approved a citywide sign ordinance, Version B-Plus, which would restrict new digital billboards to Regional Commercial Centers, such as the Staples Center and Sunset Boulevard. “This was a milestone, worth celebrating by everyone who cares about scenic beauty, traffic safety and reducing billboard blight,” said Frank following the Feb. 26 unanimous Commission vote. However, not everyone was exuberant with the decision.

Mike Feuer Shields Alleged Wife-Abusing Garcetti Pal, For Now

THE GUSS REPORT-At a City Hall meeting in early 2020, LA City Attorney Mike Feuer underhandedly blocked the public from commenting on domestic violence allegations leveled at television writer Roger Wolfson (photo above), a friend and appointee of Mayor Eric Garcetti. At that time, this column successfully lobbied for Wolfson s firing as a Commissioner at Los Angeles Animal Services, LAAS, after reporting exclusively that his pregnant, now-ex, wife, Noran Elshinnawy, alleged that Wolfson repeatedly abused her by doing things like slamming a door on her hand, locking her in their garage, verbally abusing and harassing her and hiding their dogs until she disclosed her location to him. These are classic tactics of domestic violence torment. Roger Wolfson did not deny the allegations.
