Hurricane sandy strengthened over the night. Want to give you the information we know right now. Sandy is a category 1 hurricane with wind speeds of 85 Miles Per Hour. Its located about 285 miles east of cape hatteras, North Carolina. Emergency officials in new york city and washington, d. C. Had taking unprecedented actions to deal with this storm. Thats righ the mass Transit Systems shut down, schools cancelled. The stock markets are also closed. The first weatherrelated closure in 27 years, and just take a look at this nasa image from space. This is one massive hurricane. 800 miles wide which means its impact is going to be felt across a massive region for a very long time. You forgot to mention one precaution. So we will see how that develops, it is not on a straight away. It is actually on the onramp from exit seven to go north on the new jersey turnpike. It is very good to be with you. You have made your mark by telling the stories of refuges through short, impactfull comments. You are now moving from the short stories the long narrative. What changed your view . I am in charge of communication and my job is to actually get people to understand who are the people fleeing for their lives and not just understand by putting out facts there is this staying that statistics are human beings with the tears dried off and i really believe that. If you just tell people about the poor masses fleeing you might even evoke fear. You definitely dont evoke the sympathy you would like. Individual stories on the other hand have a lot of power. I found this particular story to be so remarkable. Almost every refuge story is remarkable but this one is quite remarkable
