(MLive file photo)Alyssa Keown | MLive.com Facebook Share ZEELAND, MI – Voters approved a $75 million bond proposal to help Zeeland Public Schools keep up with rising student enrollment on Tuesday, May 4. The school improvement bond passed 2,287 to 1,545, according to unofficial election results from the Ottawa County Clerk’s office. “Our community has shared its voice today and once again has placed kids first,” Superintendent Cal De Kuiper said in a prepared statement. “This win is for students, for education, and for the Zeeland community as a whole. Thank you.”

Zeeland opening 2 new Little League softball fields at Huizenga Park Zeeland Recreation and last updated 2021-04-16 13:06:55-04 ZEELAND, Mich. — Zeeland Recreation has built two new state-of-the-art Little League Softball fields at Huizenga Park to match the fields the Boys Little League program has had for several years at Jim Kaat Park. They level the playing field with the boys program, with new brick dugouts, batting cages, bullpens, black vinyl fencing, electronic scoreboards, sound system, restrooms and field dimensions uniquely designed specifically for Little League softball with a 180-foot outfield fence depth. Officials announced the new fields Friday. The project was funded by the Zeeland Recreation millage, along with “significant” donations from local Zeeland businesses.
