Last week, the city of Woodland and community partners welcomed a delegation from our Sister City of La Piedad, Michoacán, Mexico for four days of activities and cultural exchange.
The four-day trip for a delegation from Woodland's Sister City La Piedad, Michoacán kicked off Wednesday morning with an official welcome reception and a visit to the Woodland Police Department.
The 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. event aims to celebrate the county’s thousands of farmworkers who made putting food on the table possible throughout the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic and the supply chain and inflation issues that followed.
The distribution was an attempt to establish connections with local farmworkers and to encourage them to attend the city’s second annual Yolo Growers & Farm Workers Festival which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 in downtown Woodland.
The Oct. 4 through Oct. 7 visit is part of the two cities’ attempt to strengthen their relationship and to celebrate the rich heritage and culture that exists between them.
