Woodland High School art teachers Isabel Martinez and Ruby Chacon created the mural – which depicts nine multi-generational Latina women doing work to improve their community through the arts, education, farmworkers advocacy and more – over the last two years as part of a women-led mural project called Sacramento Poderosas.
CommuniCare+OLE, formerly CommuniCare Health Centers, hosted the fourth annual Dia de los Muertos celebration last month at the Hansen Family Health Center, located at 215 W. Beamer St., drawing more than 500 community members from Woodland and the surrounding communities.
