FG distributes N20,000 conditional cash transfer to 3,270 rural women in Osun

The Federal Government on Tuesday distributed the sum of N20,000 to 3270 vulnerable rural women across Osun state under its conditional cash transfer programme.
Speaking at the event held at Staff Development Centre, Abere in Osogbo, Osun State, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sarita Umar Faruk said 1,635 of the beneficiaries are women with disability.
Represented by the Director, Account and Administration in the Ministry, Dr Mathew Dada, she said the programme is part of the federal government’s effort to lift 100million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years.

Felt perturbed by the spate of insecurity and other nefarious activities in Osun State, the state governor, Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday, held a marathon meeting with the leadership of security agencies in the state to combat the untoward acts.
The state government at the meeting held at the state government house in Osogbo, jawed with the heads of security operatives comprising of the Police, Army, Air Force, DSS, Immigration, Correctional Service, NDLEA and NSCDC to address the state security headlong.
Be wary of COVID-19 second wave – Oyetola warns residents

Governor Gboyega Oyetola has admonished citizens and residents not to compromise the safety protocols and guidelines put in place by government and health authorities against the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
Oyetola called on the residents to be wary of the adverse effects of the second wave of the deadly virus which he said had caused untimely deaths across the globe.
He said this on Saturday while addressing invitees at the special prayer session organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his late mother’s death in Iragbiji, Osun State.
States gear up as Nigeria gets 3.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine
Nigeria on Tuesday received 3.94 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID – 19 vaccine.
The vaccine was received through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Assess Facility (COVAX).
COVAX, an initiative co-led by the Vaccine Alliance, GAVI and the World Health Organisation seeks to ensure equitable access to a COVID – 19 vaccine by dividing about two billion doses across 92 low-and middle-income countries.
Nigeria is the third African country to benefit from the COVAX facility after Ghana and Ivory Coast.
The COVID – 19 vaccines arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja aboard the Boeing 777 300 ER aircraft of the Emirates Airline at 11.45am.
