NEW HAVEN Qinxuan Pan, named a person of interest in the investigation of the slaying of a Yale graduate student, allegedly stole an SUV and changed his cellphone number before coming to Connecticut, according to a police report.
But Pan also allegedly attached a commercial Connecticut license plate to the vehicle, replacing a Massachusetts dealer plate, and “concealed the identity” of the SUV, according to the police report.
The Attleboro District Courthouse in Massachusetts released the report, written by Mansfield, Mass., police to secure a warrant for Pan’s arrest on a larceny charge..

NEW HAVEN A 21-year-old city man found dead Monday has been declared the seventh homicide victim of the year in New Haven, according to police.
His passing, initially considered an untimely death, has now been declared a homicide.
“All updates will follow as more information is gathered,” Kendall said. “The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at (203) 946-6304. Tips and all information can be provided anonymously.”

NEW HAVEN Authorities are investigating the possibility of “a bad batch of drugs” after two men were found dead in a supply room behind Jack’s Bar & Steakhouse at College and Crown streets in what police suspect were overdoses.
Assistant Police Chief Karl Jacobson said that while the cause of the two men’s deaths have yet to be determined by the state medical examiner’s office, it appears both died of overdoses, not of any sort of foul play.

HAMDEN Two women allegedly were assaulted and a store clerk allegedly had a gun pointed at his head during three separate weekend incidents, according to police.
The first incident occurred at a convenience store in the 1700 block of Dixwell Avenue at about 6 a.m. Feb. 13, Capt. Ronald Smith said in an email.
A male who was “wearing distinctive red and white shoes, entered the store brandishing a firearm. He ordered an employee ‘down onto the ground’ and then forcibly held him, while pointing the firearm at the back of his head,” Smith said.
