Hamden PD: 3 teens seriously hurt after crash in allegedly stolen vehicle

HAMDEN Three teenagers suffered serious injuries after a crash in an allegedly stolen vehicle, according to police.
Officers responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Connolly Parkway for a report of a collision involving three vehicles at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Officers learned that a 14-year-old New Haven resident was driving an allegedly stolen vehicle and was “responsible for the crash,” Smith said. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Derby on March 3.
The stolen vehicle, which Smith said “sustained excessive damage,” hit a tree after colliding with the other vehicles.

HAMDEN Two women allegedly were assaulted and a store clerk allegedly had a gun pointed at his head during three separate weekend incidents, according to police.
The first incident occurred at a convenience store in the 1700 block of Dixwell Avenue at about 6 a.m. Feb. 13, Capt. Ronald Smith said in an email.
A male who was “wearing distinctive red and white shoes, entered the store brandishing a firearm. He ordered an employee ‘down onto the ground’ and then forcibly held him, while pointing the firearm at the back of his head,” Smith said.
Hamden PD: Local man charged with kidnapping after baby found in stolen car

HAMDEN A man accused of taking a car that had a baby in it has been charged with kidnapping, police said.
The 6-month-old child was missing for a little more than an hour Monday after the car the baby was in was stolen, according to Hamden police.
The child was found unharmed and a suspect was arrested, Smith said.
Richardson Wong-Aponte, 37, of Woodin Street, is charged with second-degree kidnapping, risk of injury to a minor and third-degree larceny, as well as on outstanding warrants from other cases, Smith said.
