WEST HAVEN The one-year anniversary of the death of Mubarak Soulemane, a New Haven resident shot and killed by a state trooper off Interstate 95 in West Haven following a pursuit has passed .
A crowd gathered to call for justice in his name. His mother wept, her tears shining in the light feet away from where he was killed.

STORRS The University of Connecticut released its COVID-19 safety plan for the upcoming semester Saturday, sharing its plan to safeguard against the coronavirus as students began to return to campus over the weekend.
“The Spring 2021 Reopen Plan covers all UConn campuses statewide (except UConn Health), including residential and commuter students, and assumes a combination of in-person, remote learning and hybrid classes,” the plan said.

NEW HAVEN President Donald J. Trump Wednesday declared that last summer’s Tropical Storm Isaias represented a disaster for Connecticut, enabling the federal government to provide financial assistance to municipalities and some nonprofits.

NORWALK Two lanes were closed on Interstate 95 South in Norwalk Saturday after a two-vehicle crash, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The crash, reported at 5:41 p.m., occurred between Exit 14 and Exit 15, DOT officials said.
The left and center lanes of the highway were closed.
The crash was cleared at 6:14 p.m., officials said.

17-year-old reported missing from Danbury

DANBURY A Silver Alert was issued Saturday for a 17-year-old youth reported missing from Danbury.
Jesse Gallagher, 17, is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection said in the alert.
He stands about 5-foot-8 and weighs roughly 140 pounds, authorities said.
He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black sweatpants and black boots, according to the alert.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Danbury Police Department at 203-797-4614.
