Superintendent Dr. Danny Webb tells me the district had been working with the Bedford Family Health Center over the last two weeks, setting up the vaccinations to happen Tomorrow. Friday is an in service day, meaning faculty could still be vaccinated without needing to close the school for an additional day. Webb tells me the vaccinations are important for protecting teachers, staff and students and it would help the district return to more in person instruction.

Teachers and staff in the Everett Area School District were scheduled to received COVID-19 vaccinations today, but their appointment was postponed due to an increased demand in the first phase of the state’s vaccine distribution. Superintendent Danny Webb said the district has been working with the Hyndman — Bedford — Richland Family Health Centers for about three weeks to coordinate vaccinations for the district employees. About 120 district employees were set to receive the first does of the vaccine today, but the appointment was postponed Thursday morning. Webb said district officials were upset about the short notice and delay to the needed vaccine for teachers.

Waiting lists are long in some cases, but Bedford County residents who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are finding places to get their shots, local officials say — even if it means holding clinics outside of normal business hours. The latest of these will be this weekend, where Bedford Family Health Center will hold a clinic on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bedford Middle School. The vaccinations are only for those who fit into the Department of Health’s Phase 1A of the rollout. Those wishing to receive the vaccine must have an appointment, and no walk-ins will be permitted.
