them enough to go to police. it s when they realized their friend identified only as a 24- year-old hartford county teacher was well and had faked cancer for two years. she was saying she needed help with rent and flights to areas to get treatment. reporter: back to january 2010 when a police report said the unnamed suspect started telling people that she had cancer. overtime she went as far to say it was stage 4, had spread to her lungs and she had a 15% chance of survival. they had done several fund- raisers for her to help pay for things and they are saying they raised $10,000. reporter: the victims say they met the suspect at baker field elementary school in aberdeen. she went to such extremes as putting a feeding tube in. their families gave her cash and frequent flyer miles, organized fundraisers and their kids asked to pray. the story came down when her parents were thrown off by being invited to a holiday benefit. she admitted to faking the disease. they were
