NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: While Ghaziabad has reported 60 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) so far, as many as 28 patients have been discharged from hospitals. Officials of the health department said that all the current patients are being treated at four private hospitals in the city. According to official data, Harsh ENT hospital has admitted 32 patients so far one of whom came in on Tuesday and discharged 21 of them. One of the patients, however, died due to the infection. At Max Hospital in Vaishali, seven patients have been discharged while nine are undergoing treatment. At Yashoda Hospital in Nehru Nagar, all nine patients reported so far are undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, two patients are being treated at Pulmonic Hospital (Raj Nagar).

The Centre had left the decision to allow walk-ins with the states. The UP government has not issued any such order yet. In both Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad, the vaccination drive is on, although the districts are facing a shortage of Covaxin. While Ghaziabad has 4,000 doses left, GB Nagar has a stock of 3,200. The GB Nagar administration has now brought down the number of inoculation centres to three from six.

Noida/Ghaziabad: Both districts recorded their highest single-day Covid tally for this year on Monday. While Ghaziabad reported 187 fresh cases, in Gautam Budh Nagar, the figure was 239. Ghaziabad also reported one death. According to officials, a 54-year-old woman from Lal Kuan, who was admitted to Santosh Hospital on April 8, passed away on Sunday. She had hypertension and diabetes. This is the second death in Ghaziabad this month and the toll is now 104. The total number of cases in the district stands at 28,377. About 1,055 cases have been detected since April 1, officials said. Currently there are 926 active cases and 441 people are recovering at home.
