NOIDA: A candidate for the zila panchayat polls allegedly fired upon cops when a police team raided his house in Dadri on information that he was in possession of illicit liquor supposed to be distributed to voters.
Police said Mukesh Gurjar, who is contesting the local zila panchayat member polls, opened fire as soon as he spotted cops outside his house in Nangla Nainsukh village on Sunday.
Dadri SHO Rajvir Singh told TOI, “He was spotted outside the house, but he got alarmed and fired one gunshot before escaping. An FIR is being lodged against him. Mukesh has a criminal history, and is wanted in cases of causing hurt and under the Arms Act.”

GREATER NOIDA: To regulate entry of visitors to its office, GNIDA is gradually shifting its working to the online mode. The authority has asked residents and allottees to file all applications and service requests online from May 1.
Officials said that 203 services have already been digitised and will be offered through the web portal. The authority had started switching to paperless working from September last year. Having created an enterprise resource planning management software, the authority had started disposing applications submitted through its web portal and mobile app in a time-bound manner.
It has created 10 broad verticals property, planning, health, water and sewerage, electricity, transportation, maintenance, 6% abadi plots, drinking water and general under which over 200 types of services will be offered.
