New update doesn t change privacy of personal messages: WhatsApp responds to GOI letter
Messaging app WhatsApp on Monday apprised the Government of India (GOI) that its recent update does not change the privacy of people s personal messages. We have responded to the Government of India s letter and assured them that the privacy of users remains our highest priority. Its purpose is to provide additional information about how people can interact with businesses if they choose to do so, said a WhatsApp spokesperson.
The messaging app clarified that it will not limit the functionality of services and would continue to remind users from time to time about the updates.

A new virus link that claims to turn popular messaing app Whatsapp in pink colour has gone viral on Whatsapp but according to cyber experts people should not click on the link as a click on the link will hack the phone of users and the users would lose acccess to their Whatsapp account.
“Beware of WhatsApp Pink!! A Virus is being spread in WhatsApp groups with an APK download link. Don’t click any link with the name of #WhatsappPink. Complete access to your phone will be lost,” cybersecurity expert Rajshekhar Rajaharia posted on social media platforms.
The new privacy policy of WhatsApp would lead to excessive data collection and stalking of consumers for targeted advertising to bring in more users and is therefore, an alleged abuse of dominant position, competition regulator CCI told the Delhi High Court on Tuesday. The submission was made before Justice Navin Chawla by senior advocate Aman Lekhi on behalf of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in defence of its order directing an investigation into the new privacy policy of messaging platform WhatsApp. The CCI was looking into the competition aspect and not the alleged violation of individuals privacy which was being looked into by the Supreme Court, Lekhi said.

WhatsApp gets New Animation for Voice Messages:- WhatsApp Messenger is updated on iOS platform and it came with new features like an animation for voice messages and the receipts for them are disabled. The updated version is 2.21.40 and the updated version is now available on App Store. WhatsApp also added a disappearing messages feature for iOS. Though version 2.21.30 arrived last month, the App Store was not updated. The latest version 2.21.40 brings small tweaks to WhatsApp. A new progress bar is introduced for voice messages. This feature is available for the iOS 13 users and beyond.
