New update doesn t change privacy of personal messages: WhatsApp responds to GOI letter
Messaging app WhatsApp on Monday apprised the Government of India (GOI) that its recent update does not change the privacy of people s personal messages. We have responded to the Government of India s letter and assured them that the privacy of users remains our highest priority. As a reminder, the recent update does not change the privacy of people s personal messages. Its purpose is to provide additional information about how people can interact with businesses if they choose to do so, said a WhatsApp spokesperson.
The messaging app clarified that it will not limit the functionality of services and would continue to remind users from time to time about the updates.
WhatsApp to limit the features for accounts that don t accept the privacy policy:- Top communication platform WhatsApp has extended the deadline to accept the privacy policy of the users until May 15th. All the users who will not accept the new changes will have to lose their access for their account. WhatsApp decided not to deactivate the accounts but they will limit the features. WhatsApp will send the reminders for the users as per the new privacy policy. One of the spokespersons revealed that the users who are not in a mood to accept the new policy will have limited account functionality .

The Delhi High Court on Monday said accepting the new privacy policy of social messaging app WhatsApp was a voluntary thing and one can choose not to use or join that platform if one did not agree with its terms and conditions. It is a private app. Don t join it. It is a voluntary thing, don t accept it. Use some other app, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said to the petitioner, a lawyer, who has challenged WhatsApp s new privacy policy which was slated to come into effect in February but has been deferred till May.
