democrats coming home. that s right. and i think it s going to be hard to dent that democratic enthusiasm that has been there from the start. so what we re seeing now, like what steve and amy are saying, is that the republicans have closed some of that gap. but that is my question in looking at all of these polls is that the polling measures preference for candidates, but it doesn t measure enthusiasm. the democrats have had that advantage. the republicans closed it somewhat. but my question to you guys is the democrats still have that advantage. so how much is that worth in some of these races where it is so close given that the polls don t really measure the fact that democrats still remain more enthusiastic than republicans? yeah. in this new poll, they do ask a question about are you more moerveated right now compared to a normal election. and there was over the summer a pretty big imbalance between the parties. in this new poll that s evening out a little bit. so i do think th
person was there and oh, we had this conversation and i forgot about that conversation, it does, you know, show the various threads at play here. it certainly does, and in some sense, an analogy of what steve was saying is that it s hard to believe within the trump team that there wasn t communication with the ongoing meetings with the russians and they re attempting to deny that they happened or they were unaware of it or they were compartmentalized. it really doesn t hold up. for example, going back to the transcript was don junior where he said he takes this meeting and he lets jared and paul manafort know about it, but his recollection and he doesn t tell them anything about the substance of the meeting and i think it s rather unlikely and they ll not come up with the value of the meeting and what the substance is and there has to be more communication between them and if there is, then it s very likely that that communication specifically was talking about these russian meetings
and the casualty estimates for war, should it break out on the korean peninsula, over a million dead in the first day. this is deadly serious business. this is not an episode of the apprentice. and what we know from history is that miscalculations by leaders at dangerous places in the world can lead to epic human tragedy. so, everybody should breathe deeply, hope for the best. we want a more peaceful world. but the carnival antics that surround high-stakes diplomacy with this president should be alarming to people. phil, what you reported out is really the juxtaposition of what steve describes, which is really the most dire kind of foreign policy. i know from a lot of former and current members of his national security team they spend the vast majority of their time down in the sit room becoming more and more alarmed by what s going on in north korea. this is a real national security threat. but they see it the president
and i think that he s steve is trying to figure out what to do right now. where does he go? i would say, and this is somewhat conjecture on my part, of what steve was thinking. i think that he thought when he told me these things, that roy moore was going to win in alabama. and if roy moore won in alabama, that would mean steve bannon won, and donald trump lost. steve bannon would be holding the banner into 2018. i think with that background, he was willing to break with the president. he would still have leverage with that. what was it like, though, to watch to be in this white house for as long as you were. were you just sitting on a couch watching people walk by? i was sitting on the couch, made part of the furniture, as i was the black hole. did anybody notice you? everyone knew i was there. i was a kind of a
around the oval office. elise jordan, i guess as a former west wing staffer with, you know, we had the highest level of security clearances. we dealt with a president who was constantly under attack. george w. bush had very low approval ratings because the thing he s had done were among democrats, very unpopular. but never did the west wing staff turn on him or one another. i cannot imagine i cannot come up with an analogy in the bush era to the sort of politics of personal destruction among one another. and i cannot adequately articulate and many of the conversations were off the record but the reaction today. not one person called me and said donald trump deserves better. he should fire everyone. not one person. and the staffer in me sort of fumed at what steve is saying. who is looking out for the country? in donald trump, no one has loyalty to him, even those who
