I am told that a solo female officer responded to a call this morning of a reported dispute and assault at about 8 30 this morning. When she arrived, police say the suspect attacked her with a metal object. Sources tell us that object was some kind of chain, perhaps a bicycle chain. The officer was reportedly hit in the head and face. When she fired her again at the affect, fatally striking him. Im told the suspects body has removed about the coroner and the officer is being treated at Highland Hospital for injuries to her face and her head. We are told that her injuries are serious, but she is going to recover. The police chief, shawn wendt has been at the hospital this morning as has oaklands mayor we are told that she is going to be okay. We also understand that have been a number of people upset. Streets. [ screaming ] reporter dramatic video of an entire building imploding after a 7. 1 magnitude earthquake jolted mexico city and its surrounding areas. [ sirens ] reporter at large forced thousands to flee nearby buildings only to watch streetlights sway overhead. Meanwhile, others huddled inside clenching each other for comfort fearing the floor could crumble below them. This video posted on twitter shows the side of another building collapsing to the ground. As onlookers screamed and cried in horror. Streets were littered with rubble and debris. Thousands of Community Members joined rescue workers as they worked to start their recovery process. Finally, a positive sign. Someone had been found in the rubble alive as crews rushed to carry survivors away on gurneys to seek treatment. As the hours pass, more people were pulled from the wreckage with many more still likely trapped. The u. S. Geological survey says it was centered near a central state town 76 miles of mexico city. A
