I am told that a solo female officer responded to a call this morning of a reported dispute and assault at about 8 30 this morning. When she arrived, police say the suspect attacked her with a metal object. Sources tell us that object was some kind of chain, perhaps a bicycle chain. The officer was reportedly hit in the head and face. When she fired her again at the affect, fatally striking him. Im told the suspects body has removed about the coroner and the officer is being treated at Highland Hospital for injuries to her face and her head. We are told that her injuries are serious, but she is going to recover. The police chief, shawn wendt has been at the hospital this morning as has oaklands mayor we are told that she is going to be okay. We also understand that have been a number of people upset. Theres guys here with a sign saying stop police terror. The scene was described earlier as pretty volatile. New details on a disturbing case of animal cruelty on the peninsula. This morning the woman seen in a video abusing a dog she was paid to take care of answered to those charges. Shes accused of abusing a dog in her car on july 30th. This video shows her apparently hurting a chihuahua, he lifted him, slamming the dog multiple times. You can even hear the dog yelping in pain, according to the prosecutor. The owner called the Humane Society and said la vac was paid to watch the dogs. Theyre trying to determine if any other abuse. Its my understanding she was not licensed and its also my understanding she had too many pets on the property, and also that area of burlingame, its my understanding is not a place that would license this type of care for animals. Reporter on august 5th, the investigators went to her burlingame home and seized ten dogs, three of them were her own. The d. A. s office says she will not get a shot of getting the dogs back until this case is over, adding that the d. A. s office got three videos from the Humane Society, but so far only has enough evidence to press forward with this july 30th incident. They could add more charges if they could get more evidence of more cruelty cases. The pretrial hear has been set for october 21st. If it gets there, the jury trial has been set for november 2nd.
