Dimapur, Sep. 6 (EMN): Jalukie Zangdi Village Council (JZVC) has strongly resented the statement issued by the Western Sumi Hoho for terming the residents as ‘non-indigenous settlers from Manipur state.’ A press release issued by JZVC chairman, Bedusai Thelu-o and the head GB, Kuvehu Vero, stated that the purported statement was humiliating and unacceptable to the citizens of Jalukie Zangdi village. It clarified that the village was founded by an indigenous citizens of Nagaland namely Late Zashetso Thelu-o of Porba village in Phek district in 1985. It stated that the land was donated by Old Jalukie Village under the agreement signed between Old Jalukie Village Council and Late Zashetso Thelu-o according to customary norms. The signatories stated that the village was recognised by the state government on October 1, 1991. Dimapur, Aug. 17 (EMN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has informed that it has agreed to suspend the ongoing indefinite bandh of Dansiripar sub-division following assurance from the deputy commissioner (DC) of Chumoukedima to resolve the issue pertaining to damage compensation payment. It came a day after the hoho stated that it would continue with its indefinite bandh until the government revokes its order to keep the payment of damage compensation to Kiyevi village on hold. Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed resentment against the timing of office memorandum issued by the Home department in connection with the blockade of national highways and public roads, alleging that it “reflects nothing but double standards on the part of the Government of Nagaland”. It came just hours after the home commissioner issued an office memorandum stating that blocking of national highways and public roads is a punishable offence under various Acts and law. In a representation to the commissioner of state, through the deputy commissioner of Chumoukedima, the WSH stated that the ‘office memorandum’ would have been justified had it been issued immediately after the CSOs of Peren district intimated to the DC Peren on August 9 about their “already resolved decision” to impose blockade on Kiyevi village. Dimapur, Aug. 12 (EMN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has urged the state government to immediately intervene and ensure lifting of the “unjustified blockade” of Kiyevi village by the Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation (NZPO). In a press release, the WSH cautioned that it will impose an indefinite bandh on the entire Dhasiripar sub-division and take remedial steps it deems fit to rescue Kiyevi village from the blockade if the blockade is not lifted within 24 hours of publishing this statement. It said the resolution was arrived at during an emergency meeting with all its frontal organizations on Friday. It also withdrew from the co-ordination committee which was earlier formed between the Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland and the WSH. The WSH further directed “all Sumis residing in Peren district to leave the district within 48 hours of until further notice”.
