Earlier: Provided Monday s snowstorm is as severe as expected, winter 2020-21 is on track to be the snowiest in Des Moines in at least five years. The storm could bring 10 to 14 inches of snow to Des Moines. By Tuesday, even the minimum forecast by the National Weather Service  7 inches  would put it ahead of the total for three of the four winters preceding this one. After that, just average snowfall in February, March and April would put it ahead of the very snowy winter of 2018-19, when Des Moines saw a total of 48.8 inches, according to National Weather Service records.
