A Low Pressure Area formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal adjacent to the South Andaman Sea on Wednesday afternoon. It will move westward and is likely to become a depression by Thursday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a report on Wednesday night that it will continue with the same intensity and direction till the 17 of this month.
The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday issued an order releasing financial aid to the cyclone Mandous victims. It has announced financial assistance of Rs 1000 per person and Rs 2000 to each family. It has been directed to provide financial assistance to the victims while they are leaving rehabilitation centers.
Cyclone 'Mandous', a severe cyclonic storm, that made landfall along the coasts of Tamil Nadu, uprooted trees and caused flood and landfall conditions, has started to weaken.
Uniindia: Hyderabad, Oct 22 (UNI) The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over north Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of south Andaman Sea & Southeast Bay of Bengal moved west northwestward and intensified into a Depression at 0830 hours on Saturday over southeast adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal, close to west of Andaman Islands near latitude 12.7 °N and longitude 92.4 °E, about 110 km north northwest of Port Blair, 1460 km south southeast of Sagar Island and 1130 km south southeast of Barisal (Bangladesh).
