Cyclone Mandous, while moving across South Peninsula, weakened to a low pressure area over land. Presently, it is marked as a cyclonic circulation over interior parts of Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and North Kerala. Circulation is expected to move over the Arabian Sea in the next 24hr and evolve as a low pressure area.
The system is likely to see rapid weakening now, and may become a depression by the afternoon hours. Strong winds will continue over the coast for the next few hours. The system will spread out now covering parts of Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka and interior parts of Tamil Nadu.
Moderate to heavy showers are expected over parts of Rayalaseema and South interior Karnataka. Places like Chamarajnagar, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Kolar, Bengaluru and Hassan may receive heavy downpour. However rain activity will subside over coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The India Meteorological Department ( IMD ) has predicted that Cyclone Mandous is very likely to maintain its intensity of Severe Cyclonic Storm till early morning of Friday.
