had he not been stopped. tell us what we know so far about his motivation? well, obviously from what all of the evidence that we ve gathered so far, the motivation at this stage appears to be pure hatred. pure racial hatred. now there happens to be a penal law in the state of new york that is entitled a domestic act of terrorism motivated by hate. that particular crime right now is a crime that i m focusing on. i ve already got him charged mika with the highest murder charge in the state. murder if the first-degree. so we got that charged. we got him hold on that. so now, the next legal step is we have a felony hearing scheduled for thursday. it is a probable cause hearing to determine whether or not a felony has been committed. i m confident that the murder in the first-degree meets the probable cause standard. so he s going to be either held for the grand jury on thursday, or he s going to waive to the grand jury. so i m already in grand jury mode right now. so what that
control, to invoke the insurrection act, to withhold federal aid, emergency aid from cities that need to purge the deep state, to regulate the media. it goes on and on. you hear these things and johnson, at that point, it doesn t become reckless, it becomes responsible. the drive forward miles, towards the end of the book you write, and i m going to quote, truth is the final guardrail of our collective democracy. we each individually control its fate. how can we use the truth to preserve our democracy? one of the things that was really disturbing to me, jonathan, was i spent a lot of time talking to our nation s democracy scholars, people like larry diamond at stan stanford, people i consider democracy doctors. when they parse through the data, one of the really alarming things is you see that it is not just senior republicans who are saying one thing in private about donald trump, and the maga movement,
that it was not an insurrection. people gather there, that is villainous and he ought never that 90% you just showed, that me should be something like a zero. congressman, there is a possible third indictment looming for donald trump. and yet, as we just showed, he is topping the polls. in fact, every time he gets indicted, his poll numbers go up. and it seems to work great for him in the primaries. but, do you think it will have any impact, let s say he becomes the republican amani and faces president biden and vice president harris, that those indictments will give to his benefit in the general election. well jonathan, i know i made a very small group of people who still believe that trump will not be the republican nominee. now, i ve been wrong on these

in communities that were majority nonwhite. but, according to a texas republican cosponsor of the bill, this voter suppression legislation does not see color. this bill does not see color, race, or gender. we just want to make sure that our elections are fair, secure, and we can rely on them to be accurate. simply, that is what it does. joining us now, democratic congresswoman, she s a member of the house oversight committee. democratic minority leader of the texas house of representatives, trey martinez fischer. thank you very much for coming to the last word. congresswoman crockett, you ve just heard texas republicans say, their voter suppression legislation, quote, does not see color. your reaction? jonathan, listen. are we at sunday already? we need to go to church. somebody needs to pray. i m so sorry they re playing games. we know they don t see anything but color, and they recognize, the state of texas is, actually, more full of color than not. we are majority, minority st
