we re watching tennessee as many other states are bracing for what is ahead. the massive storm and it is massive affecting nearly every part of this country and is walloping the upper plains with blizzard conditions and life threatening wind chills. i want to bring in the meteorologist in charge of the national weather service in rapid city, south dakota. david, thank you for being here. normally people talk about a weather issue and it is focused on a certain regime. all eyes are on this storm because so many people are impacted and it continues through the weekend. this has been called a once in a jeb ration storm. can you just recall, have you seen anything like this in recent history? i think you re having difficulty hearing me at the moment. we re going through, if you can
county authorities in el paso did open up for shelters to offer places to sleep for a lot of the migrants that have the documents. the issue in el paso is that a lot of the migrants are not asylum seekers. they have not turned themselves in to border patrol. they don t have a document. they tell me it s difficult to find a shelter that will take them. the only shelters helping this particular group of migrants are the catholic churches. then again, there s a church that said, we can take you there. they didn t know if they could get on the bus. it s a communication issue. it s a weather issue. then, of course, you have status in the country because we have the ones that are seeking asylum, but you have undocumented migrants that from flooded into el paso. this is one of the cities at the border where this is happening. we expect the temperature to drop tonight into saturday. a lot of these people will stay on the street.

generally calm. it s good to say. but, of course, who knows what the next couple days are going to bring in. sunday is the big day to watch out for. jose? ron allen, thank you so very much from new york city. appreciate it. ron, i think it s important that you bring up the weather issue and how that could affect weather and whether could affect travel plans. let s turn to michelle grossman. good morning. how do things look? hey there, jose, we re not looking great on sunday. we ve had a great start to the holiday week. we have some hiccups. by sunday, we have some major hubs that will be impacted. taking a look at satellite and radar, we re a little more active than we have been the past few days. we have a storm system entering the southern plains. even some snow on the backside of that system in portions of new mexico, far western texas. we have some green showing up on the map on the pacific northwest. that s a storm system that s coming onto shore that s going to bring some mou
there s going to be some sort of weather issue. but because it is two hours, they also feel fairly confident that they will get a break in precipitation or clouds enough to where they can give it a go. so that s the weather issue. the other issue is the big technical questions. the issue on the technical side on the first launch attempt was cooling down one engine, engine number three. they have to get it down to negative 420 degrees fahrenheit in order to get it ready to launch. they equate it to when you see like formula 1 cars on the track warming up their wheels before a race? they essentially have to do that but in the opposite direction, the very cold direction, to get those engines cool enough for launch. so what they re going to do now is they re going to try to start that cooldown process a little bit earlier. but the big wild card here, pam, is the sensor. they believe that they have perhaps a faulty sensor. they say they re questioning the fidelity of these flight sensors, a
