The hills of North India have been witnessing rains due to frequent Western Disturbances. Now also, a fresh Western disturbance has approached the western Himalayan region which will result in rainfall activity over the hills of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand.
This Western Disturbance is expected to affect the hills until May 26th, giving good rain and snow in many areas. After this Western Disturbance, we expect the the weather of Western Himalayas to go dry.
Intensity of rain may go down from April 20. But scattered rains are expected to continue until April 23rd over the hills. This is the school holiday season. Influx of tourists is high over hilly destinations. There is a word of caution for all the visitors heading for vacation over Hills.
The lower hilly regions of these states including Srinagar, Shimla, Dalhousie, Dharamsala, Nainital, Manali and adjoining areas will see rain and thundershowers after April 17. The plains will only see its effect in terms of suppression of temperatures.
Next one week is going to be lean weather period for plains of North India. Day temperatures are below the normal over the entire region, in mid 30's over Rajasthan and low 30's over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh.
