Spunky Christmas Blessings brings community together for holiday

WAYNE — Children in Wayne were treated to a fun Christmas party and free gift during the first Spunky Christmas Blessings event last Sunday at the Wayne Community Center.

All Senior class students attending Wayne County Illinois high schools will have the opportunity to participate in the student class trip to Washington D.C. for the first time in four years. The last time 12th graders from Cisne, Fairfield, and Wayne City High Schools were able to take this annual trip to D.C was April, 2019, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year's trip will be extended by an extra day for the first time, allowing the students to also tour Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the amazing home and property of America's third President near Charlottesville, VA. This new feature will be part of the return trip home, following the Seniors' experience of many of the highlights of our Nation's Capital. This upcoming student trip is scheduled for April 20th - April 24th, 2023. The Bernard and Naomi L. Podolsky Charitable Trust will again pay one-half of the cost of this five-day excursion, and the students themselves will have accrued the other half throu
