As steve mentioned, National Weather Service Teams will head out to document the damage from the 20 possible tornadoes in the south. This is damage left in parts of louisiana outside of new orleans. High winds ripped the roofs off buildings and homes and a the Charlotte Fire Department is one of North Carolinas seven rescue teams that will be on stand by tomorrow to respond to emergencies related to the storm. Breaking news right now, duke energy restored power to more than 1,000 customers overnight. But still about 800 without power right now after wednesdays storm. It will be tonight before everyone you see on this map here gets their power back on. You can see most of those outages, theyre centralized in south charlotte. That is where were seeing the bulk of it. Duke energy says yesterdays strong wind delayed the crews because they werent able to safely go up in the bucket trucks to make the repairs because the wind was whipping so hard.
