parents and politicians are proposing is a return to a status quo that already wasn t okay. we re talking about textbooks that never properly covered black folks, indigenous folks and people of color. we re talking about school curriculum that never met the level of ensuring that every child saw themselves in the curriculum. so far too often we re talking about returning to a status quo that we can never afford to return back to. so what that is going to have to mean is that parents of all colors are going to have to make sure that they are included in the conversation as well because we heard parents become synonymous with white people. we re going to have to see people with the right kinds of mind sets running for school board, buying books for their children that have been banned and bringing that book chub outside, doing the kind of work that it will take to make sure that future generations are not lost. it s kind of disturbing when you think of the parents who are behind these
