Parts of north Buckinghamshire have been affected by severe flooding following heavy rain in the county. Between the afternoon of December 23 to the morning of December 24, firefighters were called out to several parts of north Bucks, where sandbags were used to stop flooding, whilst people were rescued from trapped cars due to the ongoing rain. Would recommend you don’t drive through flood waters. pic.twitter.com/sc3BfjedMD Warren Whyte (@CllrWarrenWhyte) December 24, 2020 Some of the incidents included: • 1.51pm – Car stuck in flood water Twyford to Marsh Gibbon Road, Marsh Gibbon. One fire engine from Bicester Fire Station, one from Brill Fire Station, and one from Aylesbury Fire Station attended, along with an officer, after a man and a woman were trapped in a car that became stuck in flood water under a bridge.
“So, confirmed that Buckinghamshire now going into tier three. Very disappointing,” wrote Cllr Tett on Twitter. “I reluctantly accept that the infection rates and other criteria are moving in the wrong direction. We need to follow the rules to protect each other.” Buckinghamshire has seen its weekly rate of confirmed cases per 100,000 residents climbing since October. In just over a week, Cllr Tett said he had witnessed the infection rates per 100,000 people rise from 118 to 142 for ‘all ages across Buckinghamshire’. The current weekly rate now stands at 211, according to Buckinghamshire Council’s COVID-19 Dashboard. Confirmed cases in Buckinghamshire, as of December 16, stands at 9,790.
