Harmony OS 2.0 stable coming in June, Huawei P50 series delayed until then
Huawei president of Consumer Business Group hosted a TEDx keynote in Shenzhen, China, revealing future plans for the company’s division of mobile and IoT devices. Dr. Wang Chenglu confirmed that “many devices” will be able to switch to Harmony OS 2.0 by June 2021.
The executive expects 300 million smartphones, tablets, and other IoT devices to have the Harmony OS by the end of the calendar year.
After the announcement a tipster shared on Huawei’s fan forum that the P50 flagship series will be postponed to June so it can become the Harmony pioneer. The flagships will launch alongside the MatePad Pro 2 tablet, which will also run the new OS out of the box.

After the ban on Huawei by the U.S., as a countermeasure, the company unveiled HarmonyOS (Hongmeng OS). This operating system is currently running on devices like smart TVs, watches, etc. However, it is not entirely ready for smartphones. According to recent reports, Huawei has completed the Harmony OS 2.0 developer beta 2 testings. The reports also claim that the Huawei P50 works seamlessly with the beta 2. In addition, the Harmony OS 2.0 developer beta 3 is now active.
According to Huawei, Harmony OS is a full-scenario distributed operating system for the Internet of Things (IoT) era. The company also hopes to work with partners and developers to create a super terminal experience for the IoT era.
