Cronin, Kilcoyne and Kushmerek, newcomers in state Legislature, lay out visions State Sen. John Cronin Cronin, 30, of Lunenburg takes over as senator from the Worcester and Middlesex District. In November, Cronin defeated Republican incumbent Dean Tran of Fitchburg in the general election. The seat covers Fitchburg, Gardner, Leominster, Berlin, Bolton, Clinton Precincts 1 and 2, Lancaster, Lunenburg, Sterling, Westminster and Townsend   After joining the military at 19, Cronin attended West Point and was commissioned as an infantry officer, serving two tours in Afghanistan. He was discharged honorably as a captain in 2018. After his time in Afghanistan, Cronin did legal advocacy work for veterans at a legal services center in Jamaica Plain. 

Stillwater Farm trail offers outdoor escape

Danielle Ray Landmark Correspondent STERLING Picturesque Stillwater Farm Interpretive Site in Sterling is an environmental education facility managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation Division of Water Supply Protection. An 18th-century farmhouse, a historic wood barn, and a self-guided interpretive trail are located on the 55 acre site near the Stillwater River. “This facility provides individuals and groups an opportunity to better understand the connections between land use and community character, and between natural resource protection and land management,” said Kathryn Parent, Program Coordinator for the Wachusett/Sudbury section of the Massachusetts DCR Division of Water Supply Protection. Revolutionary War veteran Zebedee Redding first settled the site at a regional Native American trail intersection in 1790.
