Bethel Park schedules Memorial Day program

Food drives on Montour Trail Food drives benefiting the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and Greater Washington County Food Bank are scheduled on the Montour Trail. Donations of nonperishable food items, paper products, household and hygiene items will be taken. Monetary donations are not accepted, nor are glass containers. Collections are from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at: • Piney Fork Road at Wastewater Treatment Plant, South Park Township (Mile 37.8), June 5. Rain date is June 6. • George Washington Elementary School, 515 Clifton Road, Bethel Park Branch, June 19. Rain date is June 20. Electronics recycling The Pennsylvania Resources Council is launching a pilot program in May to collect electronics for recycling on designated weekdays at two Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling locations, including 901 Horning Road in Baldwin Borough, just outside of Bethel Park.

Arts • Diamond Theatre of Ligonier will conduct auditions for the play, “A Hiro’s Tale,” from 7 to 9 p.m. May 7 and 8 at the theater, 210 W. Main St. Performances will be July 23 to 25. Actors of all ages are needed, no experience necessary. Rehearsals will be Mondays and Wednesdays. • Greensburg Art Center will feature a juried exhibit with works of various artists and mediums May 15 to June 25 at the Rowe Gallery, 230 Todd School Road. Westmoreland news includes super bingo and safe driving class

Classes • A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 13 at Circleville United Methodist Church, 11600 Parkway Drive, North Huntingdon. The PennDOT-approved class is for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Safe drivers can receive a 5% discount on auto insurance for three years.
