A royal romance

Philip Mountbatten fell in love with Elizabeth Windsor when she was 13 and he was 18. Their earthly romance lasted through 74 years of marriage, ending with his death last week at the age of 99, two months shy of his 100th birthday.
Philip was a prince, a member of both Greek and Danish royalty. He moved to Great Britain, joining the British Royal Navy at age18 and meeting Princess Elizabeth that same year. Those who know her said she never spoke of another man.
In 1947, Philip received permission from King George VI to marry the princess. In 1952 the royal couple went on a world tour. While they were in Kenya, King George died and the princess became Queen Elizabeth II.
