Almost 10 days back, the protests against Adani Group's multi-crore port project in Vizhinjam, located in the capital city of the southern state of Kerala, took a violent turn with protesters attacking police officers and damaging public property. The protesters were allegedly led by none other than the Latin Catholic church in the state.
Tension prevailed in the Vizhinjam area in the Kerala capital on Sunday after a group of protesters opposed to the Vizhinjam port project, overturned police vehicles and also injured two policemen.
The protests outside the under-construction Vizhinjam port in Kerala does not appear to be by fisherfolk alone and in some places it looks like a pre-planned agitation, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
