VINELAND - Good luck granted Danny Bermudez of Vineland a mobile barbershop, now he needs state legislation to put it on the road.
Where New Jersey consumers are accustomed to drive-in, drive-up, and drive-thru businesses, Bermudez was surprised to learn barbershops on wheels aren’t permitted.
Setting out to change that, the Dugout Barber Shop owner enlisted the help of a former customer, state Sen. Mike Testa, R-1.
That Facebook message resulted in pending legislation that would allow salons and barbershops to conduct business beyond their brick-and-mortar shops.
Not only convenient to customers, the one-to-one onsite service addresses COVID-19 exposure concerns for those reluctant to venture out, Bermudez said.
