FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) â Gov. Andy Beshear on Friday announced the appointment of Col. Phillip Burnett Jr., a 25-year veteran of the agency, as commissioner of the Kentucky State Police.Â
During a ceremony at the state Capitol, with his family in attendance, Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary Mary C. Noble swore in Commissioner Burnett, who had been holding the position in an interim capacity.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced Friday he has appointed Col. Phillip PJ Burnett Jr. as the Kentucky State Police commissioner.
Burnett, a Bell County native, has served KSP for 25 years and spent the past few months as interim commissioner following Rodney Brewer s resignation in November.
Brewer resigned from KSP amid a controversy over a past training presentation that quoted Adolph Hitler and urged cadets to be ruthless killer(s). The training material was first brought to light by student journalists with the Manual Redeye publication at Louisville s duPont Manual High School. I believe in Commissioner Burnett’s ability to lead KSP into the future,” Beshear said Friday in a news release. He is already working to increase recruitment and create a more diverse workforce, which is crucial to fulfilling our state’s law enforcement duties.
Worthing s Connaught Theatre
In just over seven weeks more than 300 donors contributed to achieving the target for the Save Worthing Theatres and Museum initiative as part of the Theatres Trust nationwide #SaveOurTheatres campaign.
Amanda O’Reilly, CEO, Worthing Theatres and Museum, said: “The national campaign was designed to raise valuable funds to support theatres throughout the country.
“Worthing Theatres and Museum was one of the most recent to sign up for the scheme and set itself an ambitious fundraising target of £10,000. Today, exceeding that target, with over a week remaining WTM have set an additional £2k stretch target so supporters continue to raise more much needed funds for the charity.
