The National Park service is honored and deeply humbled to serve as the steward of this moving memorial dedicated in memory of 40 amazing heroes. On this day 18 years ago the passengers and crew members of flight 93 bonded together and prevented their hijacked airplane from reaching its intended target, washington, d. C. , a mere 18 minutes flying time from this very location. Unquestionably they sacrificed their own lives to save so many.
